Hearts dominate Hinds

The Auckland Hearts have beaten the Central Hinds for the second time in as many days, today’s win coming in the 50 0ver Cricket Action Cup.

Given the chance to avenge yesterday’s thrashing, the Hinds were unable to build partnerships and eventually lost by 57 runs.

Auckland’s batting line up had been in good form of late, but Central decided to put them to the test and opted to bowl first.

It was a dream start for the Hinds as they got ICC Player of the Year winner Stefanie Taylor early. The Hearts top order looked to create a substantial partnership but could only make starts.

Katie Perkins (26) and Maddy Green (19) got Auckland on their way, but no one could push on in a line-up that never really got going. Paula Gruber made 18 near the end of the innings to help Auckland to 140 all out in the 45th over.

Hannah Rowe was chief destroyer for Central and picked up great figures of four for 17 from 6.5 overs.
In reply Central made the exact same mistake as Auckland – except to a worse extent.

The top four all made double figures, but couldn’t push on to a big score, which more than likely could have won them the game.

Instead the Hinds crumbled miserably and were eventually all out in the 33rd over for 83. Sara McGlashan top scored with just 14 runs.

Taylor may have missed with the bat, but the West Indies import had no such trouble with the ball and picked up four wickets for 17 runs off 10 overs.

This was a golden opportunity to knock over Auckland for Central, but instead Auckland secured the points and look to push their claim for a finals berth.
