SCORES

Defending Hallyburton Johnstone Shield champions the Central Hinds scrambled back from fourth to third on the national one-day table after a dramatic weekend against the Auckland Hearts.

Soundly beaten by the fresh-look Hearts one day previously, this time the Hinds sent in and bowled out their hosts for just 83: the Hearts' lowest ever one-day total against Central, with no batsman reaching more than 16.

Discarded WHITE FERN Hannah Rowe with 3-17 off 9.5 and Melissa Hansen (3-19 off eight) each captured three-fors while young pace bowler Monique Rees returned a sharp 5-2-6-2.

The Hinds began their chase before lunch, by which time they had ticked off more than half their target at 50/1.

Cruising home after a 63-run stand between Natalie Dodd (38) and captain Anlo van Deventer (35*), the visitors picked up a much needed bonus point ahead of their final crunch weekend hosting the Canterbury Magicians at Pukekura Park, while the Hearts will go head to head with current leaders Northern Spirit in a fascinating denouement to the regular season.
