Blaze bounces back at Basin

Wellington Blaze v Otago Sparks

Basin Reserve

18 November 2018

Result: Wellington Blaze won by six wickets

Wellington Blaze took their revenge on the Sparks in Round Two with their comfortable six-wicket win evening up the weekend’s ledger at the Basin.

Olivia Gain (below) top-scored with a career-best 60 in just her third List A match for the Sparks, but lacked support in a middling total of 201 for nine.

Blaze’s reply got off to shaky start with the top three all dismissed for single digit scores, Sparks captain Polly Inglis making two stumpings to have the hosts 42 for three.

However, the experience of returning captain Liz Perry (an unbeaten 63*) and Jess McFadyen (62*) saw Blaze regain control and ultimately coast home for their first win of the competition.

Round Three of the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield begins on Saturday December 01.
