Contest cut short

It looked like it was going to be a very interesting second innings in the match between the Welllington Blaze and Auckland Hearts,  until weather ruined things yeat again.

The Blaze had been put into bat by Auckland and produced a solid performance to reach 219 for five from 50 overs.

Lucy Doolan played patiently for her 53, while Sarah Taylor also made a half century only to be run out on 79.

Megan Wakefiled and Elizabeth Perry also made starts to make sure a talented Hearts' batting line-up had their work cut out for them.

Unfortunately we never got to see who would be victorious in this evenly matced battle, the game abandoned before the Hearts had time to register a single run.

It was sure to be a thriller if the rain hadn't played its part.
