An unbeaten 73* from Canterbury number five Archie Redfern underpinned an even 200 from the hosts after batting first in the final one-day match of the 2019 Nationals.

On a day of middling totals all round at Lincoln, it gave ND a sniff in the chase, after they'd dismissed Canterbury with eight balls unutilised.

Redfern and Jesse Frew had shared a vital 55-run stand for the fifth wicket, helping the red and blacks begin a rebuild after having been in a heap of early strife at 31 for four.

ND's David Hancock (4-24) had claimed three of those big wickets - starting with Matt Boyle in his opening over, then putting himself on an unconverted hat-trick with Rhys Mariu and Nic Lindstone in his next, to have the HMNZS Canterbury scrambling on deck at 8/3.

Some serious ship-steadying was required with Frew (33) reaching the 27th over before ND claimed another pair of quick wickets, Hancock picking up his fourth in Regan Sheahan at 91 for six.

Redfern unbeaten knock was crucial as he found renewed support in the form of Lachie Harper (35 off 48) who helped him add 60 for the seventh wicket, while number 10 Jacko Hemingway (25 off 15) blasted two sixes in a quick 42-run stand for the ninth.

ND didn't get off to a good start, quickly losing both their openers as well, but Fergus Lellman and Sajith Dhambagolla did some ship-steadying with a 54-run stand for the third, until Dhambagolla was bowled by Boyle in the 14th over.

ND then lost a valuable wicket in Lellman when he was run out after a distastrous attempted single. Lellman (44 off 54) changed his mind after setting off, only to find himself centimetres short of his ground - and his batting partner already at the same end.

Now 95/4, ND never recovered from that point on, Canterbury hunting as a pack to dismiss them for just 147 with nine overs to spare.
