Browne stars in tight contest

Northern Spirit all rounder Nicola Browne has extended her lead at the top of the MVP table with a match winning 93 not out and tidy bowling figures of one for 34 off ten overs in the One-Day match against the Canterbury Magicians at Cobham Oval, Whangarei.

The scorecard would have looked very ordinary had Browne not contributed with Kate Pulford making the next highest score of 36 as the Spirit limped through to 202 for 8.

Canterbury Captain Amy Satterthwaite did her best with a gutsy unbeaten 92 but was left stranded as the rest of the batting line up failed and they eventually fell eight runs short.

Pulford was the stand out bowler picking up three for 33 but is was a quality all round display in the field that got Northern home.

The win sees the Northern Spirit leap frog the Canterbury Magicians in to fifth place.
