The BLACKCAPS came up four runs short of England's 195 run target in Hamilton, but the narrow loss was enough to see the hosts qualify for the final of the T20 Trans-Tasman Tri-Series on net run-rate.
Tim Southee's 2-22 with the ball and Colin Munro's 18-ball half-century with the bat headlined the BLACKCAPS effort on a balmy night at Seddon Park.
The team now returns to Eden Park for a rematch against Australia on Wednesday night in Auckland.
As it happened...
A half-century and out for Dawid Malan who skies one to Chapman on the fence off de Grandhomme. Quality knock with some very clean hitting. England 120-3 after 13 overs. Card | https://t.co/WbP2ujhmIg #TriSeries 🇳🇿v🇬🇧 pic.twitter.com/FiDLWoRhG6— BLACKCAPS (@BLACKCAPS) February 18, 2018
A terrific spell from Tim Southee - (2-22) from his four overs. Warmly appreciated by his home crowd in Hamilton.— BLACKCAPS (@BLACKCAPS) February 18, 2018
Brilliant bowling with England threatening 200 #TriSeries 🇳🇿v🇬🇧 pic.twitter.com/G4F1cHMeJw
Brilliant death bowling by Jordan means we need 12 off the final over! pic.twitter.com/IuT6o63RgI— BLACKCAPS (@BLACKCAPS) February 18, 2018
Big finish!— BLACKCAPS (@BLACKCAPS) February 18, 2018
De Grandhomme can't find the fence needing 4 off the final ball and we come up 3 runs short of the 195 target.
But we are still through to the FINAL with a superior net run-rate 😀 #TriSeries 🇳🇿v🇬🇧 pic.twitter.com/HdiTAhN5Lf
