BLACKCAPS and Sri Lanka share points after rain intervenes

The One-Day tri-series match between the BLACKCAPS and Sri Lanka in Dambulla was abandoned due to rain with both teams taking two points apiece.

This was the second attempt to get the fourth match of the series completed after heavy rain washed out play on Thursday.

After Ross Taylor surprising opted to bowl, the home team hit their way to 203 for 3 in the 43.3 overs when rain fell and the officials called it a day.

Tillerkaratne Dilshan got Sri Lanka off to a flyer, striking eight fours in his 45 off 52 while Kumar Sangakkara made a measured 40 off 59 with Scott Styris dismissing both batsmen to finish with three for 36.

Mahela Jayawardene (59) and Chamara Silva (41) were the unbeaten batsmen.

The BLACKCAPS sit on top of the group with seven points after three matches with Sri Lanka one back on six.  India prop up the table with five points but have a game in hand.

Sri Lanka take on India on Sunday before the BLACKCAPS meet India on Wednesday.  The top teams then meet in the final on Saturday.
