Auckland Heart Win Despite 83 From Pulford

The State Auckland Hearts had a dramatic four wicket victory, scoring the winning runs with one ball to spare against the State Northern Spirit.

A 97 run partnership for the second wicket between Victoria Lind and Megan Murphy set up the win.

Lind struck an aggressive 60 of 49, include six fours and one massive six.  Murphy was dismissed on 51, coming off only 36.

When Lind was dismissed the team still required 18.  The remaining batman made hard work of the chase losing another three wicket in the process, but eventually made the total from the second to last ball.

Earlier, Northern posted 141 largely thanks to opening batsman and all rounder Kate Pulford who cracked 83 off 62, including nine fours.

Pulford’s opening partner Nicola Dodd made 30 as they shared a 53 run partnership for the first wicket.

Natalie Edwards took two for 12 off three overs with Pulford, Nicola Browne and  Morna Nielsen picking up one apiece.

The result doesn’t change the placings with both team missing out on the final but gives Auckland bragging rights going into the State League one day double header this weekend.
