Young Auckland left-arm spinner, Fran Jonas, is quickly making waves as a cricketer to watch.
Jonas made headlines when she was selected for the WHITE FERNS while still attending Baradene College in Auckland as a Year 13 student.
She made her ODI debut against England at Hagley Oval in February 2021 before being selected in her first ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup squad in 2022 – all before the age of 20!
Jonas said of her World Cup selection: “I didn’t know what to believe, to be honest. It was a shock and just really exciting.”
Jonas was offered her first New Zealand central contract for the 2022/23 season and has since become a regular in the WHITE FERNS bowling lineup helping the team claim bronze at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Jonas was selected in the New Zealand Under 19 squad for the first ever ICC Women's Under 19 World Cup in South Africa, but a calf injury saw her ruled out of the tournament.
