The chance to watch the T20 World Champion WHITE FERNS and the in-form BLACKCAPS on the same day is proving a hit with Kiwi fans, with full-house signs preparing to go up more than a month in advance of the T20I double-headers starting in mid-March.
The BLACKCAPS are hosting Pakistan in a five-game T20I series with the WHITE FERNS facing Sri Lanka and the mighty Australian women at the same venue on the same day, as double-headers return to the NZC Home International schedule for the first time since 2019.
Dunedin’s University of Otago Oval is poised to be the first game sold-out with fewer than 500 tickets remaining for the March 18 fixtures, while the series opener at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Sunday March 16 is heading in the same direction and set to be the second venue sold-out in advance.
The strong ticket sales continue the summer trend in which the BLACKCAPS played in front of full houses for the England Tests and Sri Lankan T20Is, while the WHITE FERNS were set for a record crowd for their opening Rose Bowl encounter in Wellington in December before it was washed-out.
Big crowds are also expected for the final three games of the series: at Eden Park on Friday, March 21, Bay Oval on Sunday, March 23 and the series finale at Sky Stadium on Wednesday, March 26.
NZC Head of Marketing Esther Lawrence encouraged fans to get in quick to avoid disappointment.
“Sell-outs have become a real feature over the past couple of summers,” she said.
“Following full-houses for Pakistan’s T20Is tour here last season, we anticipated there would be strong interest once again, especially with our world champion WHITE FERNS also on the match-day card.
“The WHITE FERNS series against Australia in particular has top billing - as our highly rated friends from across the Tasman take on the T20 World Cup champions.
“The T20I double-headers are always a fantastic day out where fans get the chance to watch their heroes in action on the same day at the same ground.”
Tickets to the double-headers are competitively priced at $40 for an adult and $10 for juniors with discounts for students, seniors, families and groups.
Fans can purchase tickets online at tickets.nzc.nz and can receive a 15 percent discount on adult and family tickets by joining NZC’s free members club, Cricket Nation.
The five T20I double-headers will be broadcast live and free in New Zealand on TVNZ 1 and TVNZ+, with radio commentary available via Sport Nation.
