New Zealand Cricket is going into bat for Cricket Scotland to provide online coaching modules to assist coach development and learning for the ICC Associate Member
Five NZC modules are now accessible through Sport Scotland’s online learning platform, Brightspace, covering a range of topics from coaching female cricketers to building team culture.
The five modules are:
• Coaching females
• Building confidence in your players
• Understanding your team
• The three P’s of learning
• Building team culture
NZC Community Cricket National Coach Development Manager, Toby Doyle said he was delighted the partnership would create additional learning opportunities for all cricket coaches in Scotland, to enhance the quality of coaching they provide to their athletes.
“The modules that the coaches will have access to via this partnership will grow their coaching toolbox, with a focus on ‘how’ to coach."
It also builds on a growing relationship between the countries, with several New Zealand-based coaches having coached Scotland sides over the past couple of years (current men's Head Coach Doug Watson is a former Auckland Aces and Wellington Firebirds coach) as well as former or current Scotland representatives like Leigh Kasperek (Wellington Blaze, WHITE FERNS) and Priyanaz Chatterji (Central Hinds, below) playing domestically in New Zealand.

“Moving forward, we have an opportunity to further exchange ideas and resources, to gain deeper insights into key coach development initiatives in both countries,” said Doyle.
Cricket Scotland Head of Performance Pathway, Gordon Drummond said he was excited about the new collaboration with New Zealand Cricket "which will see our coaches have access to their excellent coach development resources.
“Alongside the ICC Coach Education Pathway, it is important to provide person-led coach development resources, enabling coaches to learn and reflect at their own pace.
“The continued development of coaches is vital for the continued growth of the game in Scotland, and to meeting our strategic aims.
“I'm grateful to Toby Doyle and the team at New Zealand Cricket for allowing us to access their resources, and I look forward to future collaborations.”
