Canterbury all-round legend Frankie Mackay has added a couple more major national records to her already-bursting cricketing CV, on the first day of the national one-day Hallyburton Johnstone Shield for 2024/25.
The only thing that could have gone better after the Canterbury Magician's landmarks today would have been if her side hadn't gone down in a smouldering heap against defending champion the Otago Sparks on the first day of the new season.
That pain will ease, however, while the latest Domestic List A records that she has busted will stand the test of time - or for a good while yet, at the very least.
Heading into today's first round, Mackay was already the leading wicket-taker in the competition's history, with 173 at an average of just 20.41.
She's added three to that total and the next closest to that mark is retired Auckland Heart, Natalie Scripps with 158.
Frankie Mackay now has the double. Most wickets in NZ women's domestic one-day competition:

F Mackay 176 @ 20.17
N Scripps 158 @ 15.81
A Satterthwaite 152 @ 24.01
L Kasperek 151 @ 19.01#HBJShield
Now the indefatigable spinning allrounder, who has overcome serious ankle injuries, has the all-round double as the top Hallyburton Johnstone Shield run-scorer, as well.
She needed just three runs this afternoon to go past retired teammate Amy Satterthwaite's outstanding career tally of 5,147.
🐐 A special moment on Day 1 of the season for Frankie Mackay as she becomes NZ's leading runscorer for a single Domestic team - in men's or women's List A, going past @AmySatterthwait's 5,147, also for @CanterburyCrick Magicians#HBJSHIELD #cricketnation pic.twitter.com/X27ipuo2jG

So, Mackay now has the national record 5,152 runs to her name in this competition, and in the process, also ticked off the most runs by anyone - male or female - for an NZ Domestic team (the men's record in this category is held by retired Central Stags run machine Mathew Sinclair with 4,465 career runs in the green).
Run-hungry, and loyal all her life to the badge.

Impressively she reached the new batting milestones from 130 games, which itself charts as the second highest number of appearances in the one-day format for the Canterbury Magicians, behind Satterthwaite's 158.
Mackay also holds the record for the most centuries (13) for both Canterbury and the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield overall.
A self-confessed cricket nuffie and superb commentator when she's not playing, Mackay debuted for Canterbury in both formats back in 2007/08, and has also played 30 ODIs and 30 T20 Internationals for the WHITE FERNS between 2011 and 2021/22.
