NZCT Junior Boys’ Finals

The third New Zealand Community Trust Junior Boys’ Cricket finals will take place at Taupo’s Owen Delany Park from March 27-30.

The New Zealand Community Trust Cup is a school-based knock-out competition aimed at year 9 and 10 boys.

Matches are played in each of the six Major Associations from late October to early March, with winners from each association, together with the runners-up from the two associations with the most entries – Central Districts and Northern Districts earned that right this year.

From the original 142 entrants, eight schools will contest the national finals’ tournament: St Kentigern College [Auckland], Hamilton Boys’ High School and Tauranga Boys’ College [Northern Districts], New Plymouth Boys’ High School and Palmerston North Boys’ High School [Central Districts], Wellington College [Wellington], St Bede’s College [Canterbury] and Otago Boys’ High School [Otago].

While Hamilton Boys’ High School, Palmerston North Boys’ High School and Wellington College have previously been represented in the national finals’ tournament, the other five schools are all appearing for the first time.

The finals will be played over four days with two pools of four teams involved in round robin play for the first three days, and then cross-over matches will be played on day four to determine the final competition rankings.

The tournament is being hosted on behalf of New Zealand Cricket by the Northern Districts and Bay of Plenty Cricket Associations.
