An 159-run partnership between Caitlin Gurrey (70) and young opener Yas Kareem (79) helped Northern Districts down the Canterbury Magicians in the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield.
After losing opener Kate Anderson early in the innings, hosts Kate Ebrahim and Jodie Dean regained control and built a solid 59-run second wicket partnership.
But it was Ebrahim’s seventh list A 100 and Natalie Cox's (95*) record-breaking 170-run partnership for the fourth wicket that laid the foundation for the Magicians to post 239/3.
In reply, ND opener Kareem led the way with her List A high score of 79, and 70 from senior partner Caitlin Gurrey, her 12th List A half-century, saw the pair post 159 runs for the second wicket, just one run shy of equalling Northern Districts Women’s List A second-wicket partnership record.
Jess Watkin (23*) and Nensi Patel (33*) finished off the run chase in the 40th over, and Northern Districts claimed a six-wicket win, their second win of the competition.
