Strong start by BLACKCAPS T20 team

It was the big-name batsmen and the young bowlers who led the way for the BLACKCAPS in their T20 warm-up win over the Sri Lanka XI in Colombo.

Colin Munro (48* off 27 retired) and Martin Guptill (22) set the tone with a brisk 74-run opening partnership, before Ross Taylor (43* retired) guided the visitors through to 168-6 from their 20 overs.

The run-chase was always behind the asking rate and finished 33 runs short at 135-9, with Scott Kuggeleijn claiming the impressive figures of 4-16 from his four overs, while Ish Sodhi chimed in with three wickets.

The BLACKCAPS have relocated to Kandy to prepare for the opening T20 International against Sri Lanka at the Pallekele Sports Stadium on Sunday evening (Monday 1:30am NZT).
