Jamieson shines again at Hagley

Kyle Jamieson continued his strong Test form taking 5-69 on Day One at Hagley Oval after Kane Williamson won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Tim Southee struck in the third over to claim an early wicket, before Jamieson took control on a Hagley Oval pitch with plenty of bounce and carry.

Jamieson took the next four wickets for the BLACKCAPS to head to tea with figures of 4-54 from 14 overs.

He took his fifth wicket in the final session to claim his third five-wicket bag in Tests with Pakistan bowled out late in the day for 297.

Azhar Ali was the mainstay of the visitors' innings, playing beautifully throughout while combining with Mohammad Rizwan (60) to put on 88 runs for the fifth wicket.

Williamson & Nicholls take charge

Kane Williamson (112*) and Henry Nicholls (89*) have put on 215 unbeaten runs for the fourth wicket to put the BLACKCAPS in a strong position at the end of day two of the second Test.

The pair batted for the entire afternoon at Hagley Oval, captain Kane Williamson bringing up his 24th Test hundred in the final hour of play while Nicholls proved the ultimate foil for his captain in his home conditions.

The ball challenged the bat early on day two, the BLACKCAPS 71/3 in reply to Pakistan's 297 first innings total.

Openers Tom Blundell (16) and Tom Latham (33), rode the early heat from the Pakistan bowling lineup but both fell with the score on 52, just before the lunch break.

Experienced duo Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor (12) were then looking set for another big partnership before Taylor was caught in the slips.

That's when the task fell to Williamson and Henry Nicholls who took it up with dogged resistance. 

There was a moment of fortune, when Nicholls was dismissed off a Shaheen Shah Afridi no-ball, but following that moment, Nicholls and Williamson went about their work in the Hagley sun, taking their partnership past 100 after tea. 

From there, the pair to stumps setting up an intriguing day three.

Williamson delights Hagley

Kane Williamson's golden summer continued on Day Three at Hagley Oval, the BLACKCAPS captain notching his fourth Test double century as his team took hold of the Test.

Although the applause was first for Williamson's overnight partner Henry Nicholls who, batting with a left calf strain, brought up his seventh Test century in front of his home fans. 

Nicholls and Williamson shared in New Zealand's third highest partnership of all all time with 369-runs to their credit - only the sixth 300-plus run partnership in Test cricket.

After a watchful start, Nicholls was aggressive once reaching the milestone and cruised past 150 before eventually being caught in the deep for 157.

That left the stage for Williamson who, despite one rain break leaving him stranded on 199, reached the magical 200 mark under lights in the middle session much to the delight of the Hagley Oval crowd.

The day of moments wasn't over there, all-rounder Daryl Mitchell scoring his maiden Test century later in the day before a declaration leaving an hour for the BLACKCAPS bowlers to attack.

Kyle Jamieson was the benefactor of a tight bowling unit, picking up Shan Masood for a duck before the close of play.

BLACKCAPS complete sweep

The BLACKCAPS ran out convincing winners of the second Test against Pakistan, claiming an innings and 176-run victory at Hagley Oval.

Kyle Jamieson capped a Player of the Match performance with 6-48 in the second innings, to finish with match figures of 11-117.

Kane Williamson was awarded the Player of the Series for his outstanding contributions with the bat.
