Wakefield Sets up Another Blaze Victory

The Wellington Blaze showed why they are the State League competition leaders demolishing the Auckland Heart in a one sided affair at Melville Park.

It was a slow start for the Blaze who scratched their way through the first 20 overs to be 43 for 3 before kicking on to be 210 for seven at the end of the innings.

Megan Wakefield was the stand out performer, scoring 120 off 119 balls with the only real support coming from Sophie Devine who contributed 32.

Natalee Scripps bowled an accurate line and was rewarded with the tidy figures of three for 35 off ten overs.

The Hearts started their chase well enough with an opening stand of 50 between Michelle Lynch and Victoria Lind but once the first wicket fell, the team collapsed to be all out for 118.

It was White Ferns pair of Sophie Devine and Lucy Doolan who were the most destructive taking three scalps each, with Doolan only conceding 22 runs off her ten.

Misson complete for the red hot Blaze team with two wins in as many days and are definitely the team to beat in the State League this season.
