Otago Sparks Cruise to 111 Run Win Over Northern Spirit

Batting first the Sparks made 239 on the back of fine batting performances from all rounders Suzie Bates, Lynsey Askew and Sarah Tsukigawa.

Bates was in particularly devastating form hitting 89 off 93, including 10 boundaries.

Askew was more circumspect using 82 balls for her 43 with Tsukigawa hitting 57 from 79.

Louise Milliken managed to sneer two scalps, but like most of the eight Hearts bowlers used, was expensive with figures of two for 61 off ten.

Northern lost wickets regularly and struggled to put partnerships together, eventually being rolled for 128 - 111 runs short.

Kate Pulford put on 24 at the top of the innings and Anna Wilkins (30) and Nicola Browne (23) got starts but no one could produce the big score required .

After contributing with the bat, Lynsey Askew took two wickets, as did Tanya Morrison.  But is was Emma Campbell who continued her golden run taking three for six off four overs.

The win allows the State Otago Sparks to say in fourth place after nine rounds and hot on the heels of the top three.  The State Northern Spirit remain in fifth.
