Magicians Hit a Record 267 in Victory Over Hearts

Amy Satterthwaite's 76 set up the victory for the State Canterbury Magicians as they made a score of 267 against the State Auckland Hearts at Redwood Park in Christchurch.

The target was reduced to 158 off 26 overs as a thunder storm halted play for some time.

Satterthwaite was in good touch hitting 10 boundaries in her 76 and put on 107 for the third wicket with Magician's captain Haidee Tiffen.  Tiffen went on to get 56.

Some quick scoring from Maria Fahey who made 26 off 23 and Michelle Mitchell who made 25 off 12 pushed the total through to 267 - a  Canterbury Magicians record against all teams in State League cricket.

Natalee Scripps was the leading wicket taker for the Hearts with three for 58 off her 10.  Althought wicketless, Megan Tremaine was the one Auckand bowler to contain the batsman, going for only 27 off nine overs.

Victoria Lind made 25 at the top of the order and Megan Murphy struck a solid 31 in the middle, but the Auckland batsmen couldn't kept up with the demanding run-rate imposed by the Duckworth-Lewis calculation, falling 58 runs short of their target.

Lea Tahuhu proved difficult to get away going for 6 runs in her four overs and picking up two wickets.  Mackay was also tight, taking two for 36 off nine.

This result gives Canterbury three wins from six matches as they occupy the middle of the State League table - Auckland have only recorded one win and are at the bottom.
