In Form Sinclair Leads Central Stags to Victory

It was State Central Stags captain, Matthew Sinclair, who once again performed with the bat as his team chased down the State Canterbury Wizards score of 294 at Palmerston North.

Sinclair hit an outstanding 97 off 90 balls to guide the Stags to the four wicket win.

The limelight will be shared with opening batsman, Peter Ingram, who scored 91to set up the chase and Brendon Diamanti who smashed 26 off nine balls to finish thiings off.

The Cantebury team would have been relatively pleased with their first innings effort that included a 105 run partnership for the third wicket between Michael Papps who made 72 and Johannes Myburgh who made 90.  

Myburgh clubbed 12 fours and six and only faced 85 balls in his innings.  Chris Harris was also in good touch to be 62 not out off 58 balls.

Central bowler Mitchell McClenaghan took two for 52 and Ewen Thompson was again economical ending with figures of one for 34.

After five rounds it is the State Central Stags who are comfortably sitting in the top spot with the State Canterbury Wizards one off the bottom in fifth.
