Canterbury Magicians 261-3 (Amy Satterthwaite 122*, Frances Mackay 79, Hayley Jensen 35) lost to the Auckland Hearts 262-4 (Samantha Curtis 77, Maddy Green 46, Katy Perkins 44) at the Mainpower Oval in Rangiora.
A consistent batting effort from the Auckland Hearts has seen them upset the Canterbury Magicians in the final of the Domestic Women’s 50-over competition.
The Canterbury Magicians batted solidly, making 261-3 from 50 overs, only to be chased down by the Hearts who reached the total with four balls remaining.
Amy Sattherthwaite made 122 from 121 balls in the Magicians innings.
Hearts skipper Victoria Lind won the toss and elected to bowl at the Mainpower Oval in Rangiora and they earned an immediate reward with Sarah Buckman (4) falling cheaply in the opening exchanges.
But the Canterbury Magicians were up for the challenge with Frances Mackay (79) opening the innings with intent and she formed a formidable partnership with White Fern Amy Satterthwaite.

Sattherthwaite, who began the game as the competition’s leading scorer, added an exclamation mark to her dream one-day season for the Magicians when she notched up her eighth domestic one day century.
The 28-year-old made an unbeaten 122 runs from only 121 balls in what looked to be a match-defining innings to get the Magicians across the line at home.

Hayley Jensen provided rapid support for Satterthwaite when she whipped around a run a ball 35 as the hosts posted what they thought was a competitive total.
But the batting from the top to the middle order of the Hearts was as consistent as it was clinical.
The Hearts’ effort was led by Samantha Curtis (77) Maddy Green (46) and Katy Perkins (44) as they chased down the reasonable total in comfortable fashion.

The run chase was set up well by the top order, but much credit must go to Anna Petersen who delivered a quality cameo of 42 off only 24 balls to get the Hearts home.

It was a world class innings from Petersen who sealed the championship for the Auckland Hearts with her incredible shot making.
It was the final act of the domestic season and now the White Ferns will prepare to face England in the upcoming series at Mount Maunganui.
