The Canterbury Wizards have knocked over top of the table Northern Knights to record a valuable 10 wicket win in the fourth round of the Plunket Shield at Seddon Park in Hamilton.
Seamer Hamish Bennett took four for 39 with nineteen year old Corey Anderson taking career best figures of five for 22 for the Wizards as the Northern Knights second innings folded for 111 on day three.
Canterbury needed just 7.3 overs to get the 29 runs required to secure the outright win.
Starting the day on 220 for four the Wizards only managed to take their first innings total through to 289 but is was good enough to give them an 84 run lead.
None of the Northern batsmen looked particularly comfortable in their second innings with all rounder Joseph Yovich the best with 27 not out.
Opener Brad Wilson was next best with 16 while number ten batsman Bruce Martin managed 14.
The result sees the Canterbury Wizards jump into second spot on the table on 18 points but may be pushed back to third if the Wellington Firebirds win their match. The Northern Knights remain in top spot despite the heavy loss.
Day 2: Canterbury Wizards lead Northern Knights by 15 runs with 6 wickets in hand
The Canterbury Wizards took the remaining six Northern Knights wickets for 77 runs this morning before surpassing the total by 15 on day two at Seddon Park in Hamilton.
It was the seamers who did the damage with Leighton Burtt, Hamish Bennett and Corey Anderson taking two wickets each with Brandon Hiini the best of the bunch with four for 48.
The Wizards were in trouble early with Rob Nicol and Peter Fulton back in the hut with one run on the board but Michael Papps and Johannes Myburgh steadied the ship.
Papps, who is fresh off a century in one day cricket, made 61 with Myburgh unbeaten on 102. It is the 13th First Class ton for South African born Myburgh.
He will resume tomorrow with veteran Chris Harris who is 30 not out with the total on 220 for four.
The inform strike bowler Graeme Aldridge has two wickets with Brent Arnel and Joseph Youvich one each.

The Northern Knights are 128 for four at the end of a rain affected day against the Canterbury Wizards at Seddon Park in Hamilton.
It was slow going for the home side who scored at a rate of 2.13 for the 60 overs of play.
Opener Michael Parlane top scored with 65 with James Marshall and Peter McGlashan both unbeaten on 17.
Seam bowler Brandon Hiini was outstanding with three for 28 off 13. Veteran Chris Harris was extremely economical, going for 11 runs off 13 overs including nine maidens.
