Shane Bond complemented the fine work of his batsmen to help the State Canterbury Wizards rout the State Central Stags by 132 runs in a State Shield one-day cricket.
The 33-year-old former international pace spearhead showed he had lost little of his bite as he took figures of three for 25 at QEII Park in Christchurch.
Pursuing Canterbury's imposing 298 for six, the visitors were dismissed for 166 in just 33.1 overs after finding themselves in immediate disarray as Bond, with a strong wind at his back, ripped the top off their innings.
His opening spell of six overs netted him three for 22 as Peter Ingram, George Worker and Jamie How all fell to edges behind.
How lasted all of one ball and when Ingram followed him soon afterwards Central Districts were 20 for three.
That became 30 for four when they lost the key wicket of captain Mathew Sinclair for 14, the victim of a screamer of a catch by Carl Frauenstein at mid off from the bowling of Ryan Burson.
There was to be no miracle recovery either as international Ross Taylor was bowled by Leighton Burtt for 14, although Kieran Noema-Barnett at least made Canterbury work harder for their rewards as he stroked an impressive 63 off 56 balls.
In just his fourth match at this level, Noema-Barnett smacked five fours and four sixes for his maiden shield half-century.
But his resistance only served to delay the inevitable as the Canterbury attack made the most of Bond's early incisions.
Burson also shone to take three for 21 while Burtt and Frauenstein took two wickets apiece.
Earlier, Canterbury set out a sizeable stall after a series of more than handy contributions.
Their top order all did their job, with Michael Papps hitting 69, Iain Robertson 46 and Peter Fulton 27 to set up Johann Myburgh and Shanan Stewart.
Myburgh then led the way with a frenetic 71 off just 48 balls, including seven fours and three sixes, as he shared a fourth wicket partnership of 102 off just 62 balls with Stewart.
Stewart was anything but a silent partner, contributing 44 off 35 balls as the Central Districts bowlers were taken to task, none more so than Mitchell McClenaghan, who ended with one for 73 off nine overs.
The pick of the attack was Brendon Diamanti, who escaped punishment in returning figures of one for 26 off 10, but his colleagues were not so fortunate.
