Auckland Hearts chase down 184

The Auckland Hearts have taken the honours in the first match of the double header against the Otago Sparks at Queens Park in Invercargill.

Otago made 184 after being put into bat with the visitors comfortably chasing down the total with five wickets in hand and 4.4 overs to spare.

Katey Martin, who scored a half century in yesterdays Twenty20, made 74 off 75 with Sarah Tsukigawa making 54. None of the other Sparks batting line up could support the two White Ferns with the team being rolled in 39.3 overs.

Spinner Paula Gruber was the best of the Hearts attack with four for 17 off six overs.

Opener Michelle Lynch got Auckland off to a good start with 31 before Katie Perkins and Megan Tremaine combined to put on 86 for the fifth wicket to set up the win.

Perkins finished on 46 with Tremaine unbeaten on 47.
