India seal double over New Zealand

India claimed a pair of victories over New Zealand’s A teams in action in northern Australia.

An unbeaten 70 from Subramaniam Badrinath guided India A to a three-wicket win over the New Zealand A White XI on the fourth day of their Top End Series match at Darwin.

In Brisbane, India A’s One-Day side overcame the NZ A Black XI by 44 runs.

White XI made India fight for the 206 for victory.

Early breakthroughs saw India on 44 for four. But Badrinath made 70 in a fifth-wicket stand of 94 with Tejinder Pal Singh (46).

Impressive leg-spinner Piyush Chawla made 26, supporting Badrinath, to lead their side to victory in 68.4 overs.

was the best of the bowling attack, claiming three for 46. The team now move back to Cairns, where they face a Pakistan A XI in another Four-Day game, starting Monday.

In Brisbane, an unbeaten 89 from Bharat Chipli helped India to victory. took five for 24 to restrict the opposition to 164 for eight.

However, batting continued to prove a difficult task on the Sandgate pitch and the New Zealanders were removed for 120 within 45 overs.
