BLACKCAPS cement fourth place

The BLACKCAPS have cemented fourth place in the International Cricket Council's world One-Day International rankings after their 4-1 National Bank series win over Sri Lanka.

The team are now ahead of India and England, and just four points behind third-placed Pakistan.

Sri Lanka fell out of the top six positions after nine losses from their last 11 matches – including four in New Zealand – and may now face the preliminary round of this year's ICC Champions Trophy in India.

However, they could move up again if they perform well in the VB Series against South Africa and Australia.

BLACKCAPS pace merchant Shane Bond has moved into the top 10 of the ICC's world bowling rankings.

Bond the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy matches against Australia because of a groin strain but nine wickets in four National Bank Series matches lifted him four places to 10th.

He is one of five BLACKCAPS bowlers in the top 30. Daniel Vettori is highest (7th), with Kyle Mills (15th), Jacob Oram (17th) and Scott Styris (30th) also placing.

In the batting rankings, the BLACKCAPS' highest-rated player is captain Stephen Fleming (27th).
